Myths Surrounding ISO 9001:2015 Certification

Many people consider ISO 9001:2015 certification a mandatory Standard that all firms should adhere to, to improve customer satisfaction and deliver quality products and services. Implementing an ISO 9001:2015-compliant Quality Management System can help your company create a strong control system that will support achieving quality targets, business goals, and quality control. But several untruths and misunderstandings about ISO 9001:2015 may influence how you perceive the Standard and Quality Management Systems.

The following are some widespread misconceptions about ISO 9001:2015 Certification and the truth:

Myth: ISO certification Is Difficult:

The criteria and processes for ISO 9001 certification initially appear somewhat complex. They are written using concepts and vocabulary that we might not be familiar with, or they are sometimes phrased in a difficult way for beginners to understand. We recognize that businesses offer entire courses devoted to “understanding ISO 9001:2015” for a reason.  But starting with the fundamentals of quality management concepts, a more structured approach that any business can easily follow is produced.

Myth: The Only Use of ISO 9001:2015 is in Large Businesses:

The flexible and general nature of ISO Certification Standards enables enterprises to adapt them to their specific requirements. The framework can be used by any organization, regardless of its size or industry. The QMS System implementation procedure is the same whether the organization is large or small.

There are only variations in how each standard phrase applies to your business model. If you tailor your QMS to your company’s operations, ISO 9001:2015 will be effective.

Myth: The Cost of ISO 9001:2015 Certification is Expensive

The price of ISO certification depends on several variables, including the number of employees, the type of business activity, the level of technology adoption, the scope of the quality management system implementation, the need for employee training, the reputation of the ISO Consultant, the ISO Certification body chosen, and more.

The price of implementing ISO Certification for a company is frequently negotiable (to a certain extent) and does not have a set price. It varies based on how difficult it is to implement ISO certification.

The number of employees in your firm determines the fixed costs that accreditation bodies record for the certification of your QMS. This is non-negotiable and will determine how many days your audit must last.

Myth: To become ISO certified, your system must be flawless:

In a nutshell, no, but it must be operational. Although ISO 9001:2015 provides instructions for modifying a current management system or creating a new one from the start, certification necessitates additional processes.

To be certified, your business and QMS must implement the quality management system practices effectively. To do this, you must adhere to the ISO 9001:2015 framework and customize it to your organization. In addition, processes must be documented when necessary, and systems must undergo routine audits.
